The current state budget cut 10% from public transportation systems. Now counties and municipalities throughout the state are reducing hours of service and cutting routes, in addition to increasing fares. These cuts also affect paratransit services, which are part of public transportation.
Sen. Jessica King and Rep. Sandy Pasch have drafted bills to restore the 10% cut. They are calling this legislation the Workforce Mobility Act, and are asking other legislators to sign on in support by Friday, February 3.

The funding for the Workforce Mobility Act is already available. The $9.6 million needed to restore the 10% cut would come from a transportation fund that has a $32.9 million surplus. Road building or maintenance will not be impacted.

If you want your legislators to support the Workforce Mobility Act, please contact them now!
